Sunrise cactus

I started this last month and got discouraged and bored with it. Yesterday, while nursing a sore throat on the couch, I decided to have another go at it and... yay, managed to finish it. The actual plant has lost all its flowers and the leaf stems are growing UP, not hanging down as in my watercolour. I had to fudge it a bit - its lacking shadows and dark / light areas. I'm just glad its finished!

Yay!! It looks very fresh and sunshiny. We call it a zygocactus, and it comes in many colours. I have not grown one for yonks and think I must try again.

Oh (I also wanted to say Yay!), it's lovely - I don't know why you felt discouraged, but it's turned out really well. I like those reds and the purple together - very hot colours. Hope your throat is better soon - I wonder if that bug is travelling the planet - we've all had it for weeks (better now)
